Biography

Roberto Reula Gómez is a Spanish sculptor born in Madrid in 1970, currently living in Orihuela, Alicante. From an early age he showed interest in modeling, creating figures inspired by characters from commercials and television programs. A high school teacher encouraged him to study applied arts, which marked the beginning of his artistic career.

He is characterized by representing human complexity through small sculptures of common figures that, although they are in a group, convey a strong sense of isolation. His works, made in materials such as bronze or resin, show seemingly inactive characters, simply observing, which invites reflection on the introspection and irony of everyday life.

Her creative process begins with modeling in children’s plasticine, which allows her to maintain a connection with her inner child. She then works with bronze for large format works or with resin for more accessible and colorful pieces. Through the polychromy of resin, she has incorporated painting as an essential element in her sculpture.

One of his best known works is the creation of the Berlanga trophies, commissioned by José Luis Berlanga himself and awarded to prominent figures of Spanish humor such as Santiago Segura, Javier Cámara and Eva Soriano, which gave him great visibility.

He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including fairs such as Art Madrid and FLECHA. His works have been presented in galleries such as Montsequi and L’Arcada, and he has made commissioned works for both private collectors and institutions. His studio, located in Orihuela, is open to visits for those who want to know his artistic process up close.
